Same procedure as every Year? "Bettelstudent" - Very Fine & Special OX

Wie jedes Jahr spendete der Eigentümer vom Restaurant Bettelstudent Ende September einen ganzen Ochsen für eine außergewöhnliche und geniale Charity Aktion für die Krebshilfe des St. Anna Kinderspitals. Das Besondere an dieser Aktion ist, dass JEDER kommen kann. Jeder ist willkommen und jeder bekommt ein saftiges Stückerl von Ochsen mit einem frischen Salat - bedürftige Obdachlose genauso wie reiche Spender. Die Aktion dauert meehrere Stunden bis das letzte Stück vom Ochsen vertilgt ist und das letzte Fass Ottakringer leer ist, die letzte Flache Schlumberger Sekt getrunken ist. Niemand hat eine VIP-Liste und keine Agentur "lädt ein". Ungezwungen und ehrlich - positiv und offen - das ist Charity in Hochkultur. Und die Gäste spenden freiwillig und gerne. Diese Bettelstudent-Aktion unterscheidet sich von den vielen anderen Wiener Events der Superlative wo nur geladene Gäste willkommen sind - Events die natürlich auch ihre Berechtigung haben zumal dahinter oft ein enormer organisatorischer Aufwand steckt und eine edle Küche und feine Show in noblen Räumen dazu gehört. Aber der Ochse auf der Strasse begeistert mich durch seine Einfachheit, Ehrlichkeit und seine Offenheit. Bravo und Danke für dieses besondere Wiener Highlight - auch 2014.
Every year, the owner of the Restaurant Bettelstudent in the 1st District of Vienna donates end of September an entire ox for an unusual and ingenious charity event for the Cancer Society of St. Anna Children's Hospital. The special feature of this action is that ANYONE can come. Everybody is welcome and everybody gets a juicy piece of beef with a fresh salad - needy homeless as well as wealthy sponsors. The action goes on for several hours - until the last piece of the ox is eaten and the last barrel of Ottakringer Beer is empty, and the last bottle of Schlumberger sparkling wine is drunk. Nobody has a VIP list and no agency "invites". Informal and honest - positive and open - that's charity at the state of the art. And the guests donate voluntarily and willingly. This "Bettelstudent" action differs from many other Viennese events where only invited VIP guests are welcome - although also these events have, of course, their justification especially since they often need a massive organizational effort, serve a fine cuisine and deliver a top show at special locations. But the ox on the street thrills me with its simplicity, honesty and openness. Bravo and thank you for this special Viennese highlight.
